How I Became The Ingredient Thief
Growing up with food allergies forced me to experiment with cooking from an early age. It was nearly impossible for me to eat at most bakeries, ice cream shops and certain restaurants- so if I wanted a cake or a special bread or dumplings, I had to learn to make it myself! I also grew up with a mother who was way ahead of her time with healthy eating. In the 90's we were seeking out specialty food shops that had Spelt Bread, Sprouted Muffins and unsweetened Fruit Snacks. Those foods tasted delicious to me and continued to be a part of my everyday life.
Healthy food and cooking have been such a big part of my life that when I became a mother I just starting making food for my whole family that was nutritious, vegetable and fruit based, rich in whole grains and low in sugar. If that is all your family knows, they won't miss the processed ingredients, extra sweet foods and blinding food coloring that comes with most packaged foods.
Before having kids I travelled A LOT with my husband and ate some incredible dishes. I am inspired by those tastes everyday and make it my goal to keep my food interesting, worldly and fresh!
